COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Following a recent crawfish boil, Momma Pearl’s Cajun Kitchen is closing.

The owners issued a news release this week explaining the permanent closure is tied to “economic challenges.”

“Despite their best efforts to adjust to numerous economic challenges, Chef Robert ‘BB’ Brunet and his wife Becky regret to announce the permanent closure of Momma Pearl’s Cajun Kitchen,” part of the news release reads. “The beloved restaurant, known for its authentic Southern Louisiana cooking, has faced a severe drop in attendance over the past six months and unsustainable operating costs, including rising food, labor, and property tax expenses.”

The restaurant opened at 162 Tracker Drive in 2013 and the owners say the COVID-19 pandemic impacted them.

“The restaurant business, at least for many independent operators, is simply a ‘no-win’ situation,” said Chef BB. “We were already operating on the narrowest of margins, and the current economic situation has literally decimated our bottom line. We haven’t even been able to pay ourselves for over nine months.”

As of Tuesday, there were no plans to reopen in another location.

On Wednesday, the phone number appeared to be disconnected for Momma Pearl’s and their website was no longer active.
