Presentations on the work of the Court

The Information Department offers presentations to groups of a minimum of 10 people and a maximum of 80 people, covering the history, workings and activities of the Court. They last approximately one hour, are available in English and French, and are free of charge. No presentations are given during public hearings or sittings of the Court, or on weekends.

Requests

Requests must be made at least eight weeks in advance by completing and submitting the online form entitled “Presentations on the work of the Court” (link below) according to the instructions provided on the form.

There are currently no dates available for presentations until the end of 2024. Only requests for presentations from 2 January 2025 onwards can be accepted.

The Information Department will inform the requester as soon as possible by email whether or not the request has been accepted.

In view of its limited staff numbers, the Department cannot accommodate all the requests that it receives. We therefore apologize in advance to all those wishing to visit whose requests are unsuccessful.

Minor changes to the number of visitors will be accepted up to five working days before the visit. Any such changes must be confirmed with the Information Department by email.

Please note that guided tours of the Peace Palace are not available at the moment and do not form part of the presentations offered to groups by the Court.

Cancellation

Should you decide to cancel your visit, please inform the Information Department by telephone or email as soon as possible.

Please note that, on occasion, the Information Department may be obliged to cancel visits at short notice because of public hearings or sittings of the Court or other unforeseen circumstances. The Court cannot accept any responsibility in such cases.

Visitors are asked to be punctual and to arrive at the gates of the Peace Palace at least 15 minutes before their visit is due to start, in order to allow time for security screening.

Rules governing visits

Visitors are reminded that they will be entering an international court and are therefore asked to observe appropriate standards of conduct.

Anyone entering the Peace Palace grounds must undergo security checks. Access will not be granted unless security staff are satisfied that all the necessary conditions have been met. In the interest of public order, children are not admitted.

Visitors must carry valid proof of identity (passport, identity card or driving licence).

Visitors are requested to dress appropriately (no beachwear, provocative attire or displays of potentially offensive insignia).

Visitors are advised not to leave their belongings unattended inside the Peace Palace. The Court can accept no responsibility for them.
