Backup Nest Data Prior to Migration to Google Home

mulchennui

Hello,

I would like to migrate my Nest to Google home, but I want to retain the years of csv nest data.

How do I download it prior to migration, as I no longer can locate the data?

Will my old data migrate to Google Home and will the old data be available in Google Takeout, or will that data start only after post migration?

Thank you

Hi mulchennui,

Thank you for posting here in the community. I understand that you would like to save your Nest data after you migrate to Google Home. Let's check the options for this situation.

Currently we don't have any backup Nest data for users. However, your feedback is valuable. Please share your thoughts so we can address this concern and consider future updates to the Nest App.

Depending on the Nest device, you can save video clips from your Nest cameras to your phone or computer. Here's a helpful article on how to save video clips

Let me know if you have more questions.

Regards,

Byron

Thank you @ByronP , but I am actually looking for the csv data. All I own is the thermostat and I would like the raw data that I used to have access to, either before or after I migrate. There are no cameras or videos.

How can I access the data that the thermostat has collected and that I previously had access to? Thanks in advance for any assistance

Hi mulchennui,

Thank you for your reply. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding.

For your situation, you can only view the history for the past 10 days. Here are the steps:

  1. Open the Nest app and tap the Nest thermostat icon on the home screen.
  2. Tap History.
  3. Your 10-day summary should show. To learn more about your heating system's energy use, tap on any day.

Also, there is a good article about Thermostat Energy History that might help. However, there are no options to save it, only for viewing.

Let me know if you have more questions.

Regards,

Byron
