Trying to Compare Metrics From Same Data Set w/ Different Parameters

Hi - I'm trying to use Looker Studio to compare engagement metrics for emails I've sent out. I want to be able to filter down and select a single email, and compare it's metrics versus a rolling 12 month preceding period. All of these emails exist within the same data source. When I try to use the existing Scorecards w/ comparisons and filter down to an individual email, the comparisons don't pull through (as they are trying to compare to other instances of that email which don't exist instead of all other emails). I've tried working around this by grouping my metrics on the page as my "current selection" and "comparison selection" to have metrics for those sections filter independently. However when I try to blend the data across those two grouped sections to calculate the % difference between the metrics, the output shows as 0 (seemingly because it thinks the 2 numbers are the same)

Any thoughts on how to accomplish what I'm trying to do?

I have an idea, but it's a little complicated 😁

What if you made a parameter that captured the selected email? Then you could reference the parameter in fields.

I think this would enable you to make fields that could capture the percent difference between a metric filtered only on the selected email, versus a metric filtered on 12 months for all emails!
