My husband bought me the hydroflask 18oz water bottle, which came with the original lid. I knew I wanted the straw to make drinking easier, so I tried a different brand which leaked (especially on planes) and the mouth piece cracked, so it made noise when I drank through it. I went though 2 of those with the same results? So decided to try this one. First impression was a good one! Well made, for the physique of the bottle much better, and even had a similar finish - definitely looked like it fit. It has a smaller profile, which I didn’t mind, but I think my husband would have trouble using the hole at eh top to carry around the bottle. There has been no leaking, no cracking and no noise!! My only complaint is that it’s a little difficult to pull up the spout without just touching the tip of it and pulling up. The small lip that is made to pull it open and push it closed is better for closing - seems to be at the wrong angle for opening.

I purchased this 18 oz bottle to have water in the car for the ride home from work. This is a high quality smaller water bottle. Having two 24 oz bottles already I was not prepared to have to cut the straw I ordered with it. Following instructions (trim straw and then cut at an angle), I can't drink all the water at the bottom of the bottle. The flip up portion of the straw is smaller too. Maybe this size bottle would be best for younger kids. I don't really want to pay to buy a new straw but eventually I will and will cut it longer than instructed and not at an angle - like my other straws. I wish I had bought another 24 oz bottle as both 18 oz and 24 oz bottles have the same diameter and will fit in my cup holder of my car. (The straws came with my 24 oz bottles and were not cut at an angle.)

I absolutely love my hydroflask. I’m the type of person who only likes freezing cold water and my hydroflask will keep the ice in it for days sometimes. I have an alternate straw lid that I got on Amazon which I really like. The wide mouth makes it easy to clean. The handle makes it super easy to carry around. The only issue I’ve had is that I dropped mine in the garage which left a dent. This disrupted the insulation so it no longer stays as cold. I did find out that all hydroflask have a free warranty on them. If you go to the hydroflask website and submit a claim for a damaged bottle, they send you a new one! I really like this because I do have a tendency to drop my water bottle and bang it on things, so it’s good to know that I can always get a new one if I really damage it.

After destroying several plastic water bottles, I bit the bullet and bought these for my family. It has been a great investment. We have travelled all over the country and Asia with these, and they are holding up so well. The do get scratched up, but that doesn't impact the water inside. You can easily keep water cold for hours in this. In Europe last winter, I filled my water bottle up in the morning before leaving for the day, and it literally stayed cold all day long. It was so great. The inside is stainless steel, and is mold/bacteria resistant, but not proof. I have had to soak it in lemon juice and bleach a couple of times to kill what was left in the bottom after a couple of days of letting water sit in it. If you use it a lot, which I do most of the time, that does not happen. Two accessories that make so much sense to add to these, which should come as standard are the rubber boot for the bottom, and the pop up top. These make this so much more versatile, and in the case of the boot, keeps it from crashing so hard and reverberating through time and space so that everyone looks at you. I saw a lady drop one at the airport, and I swear people looked like they were about ready to hit the deck it was so loud. Overall a great investment, and one that two years into it, has paid off handsomely.
