I hate all the new caps.
David· Review provided by hydroflask.com · November 29, 2024
I love Hydroflask and have many bottles and mugs (probably about 30). The bottle is absolutely fantastic. But. . . I really HATE all the new caps. The ones on the wide mouth bottles have to be all the way forward (on a diagonal) so when I reach for my bottle, I have to twist it around in my hand to drink from just one spot. On older models, the straw would stick straight up so it didn't matter how I picked it up. I could drink from any side of the bottle I wanted as the straw was in the middle. And then that flappy strap. . . don't like it. I used to be able to just grab my bottle from the one very stable handle that was embedded into the cap. It wasn't in the way either like this flappy one can be. On the older cap, the handle part was off to the side (it was part of the cap). It was perfection. Now in order to drink, I need to move the handle down to the side, lift up the straw and put it all the way to the front. Then twist the bottle in my hand to drink from that ONE spot on the bottle that allows me to drink with the straw to the side. It is so very disappointing when a company has absolute perfection but they feel like they need to change something. Not all changes are good ones.
[Rewarded Review] Amazing!

Hydro flask is definitely a brand that’s fairly well known to be exceptional! This definitely falls right in line with that statement and absolutely does not disappoint! As someone who definitely likes to stay hydrated I’ve literally always got something with me to make sure that happens. I’ve definitely got the gamut from wide mouth bottles, to taller ones with straws, to smaller bottles with handles. This has rapidly become my go to! The handle is perfect and isn’t huge and in the way making the bottle itself feel like a fire extinguisher. I really like that there’s a little bit of weight to it so in the event it slips out of your hand you’re not holding your breath waiting for it to crack. I’m a HUGE fan of the flip top and straw, both because I do tend to be mindful of things like sand or debris finding it’s way into my drink, and because when working out on the treadmill I haven’t quite mastered drinking from an open mouth container and not spilling it all over myself! The number one selling point for me is that my beverages stay cold forever! I literally put ice in and my drink was still cold the following day! Fantastic product and a must have for a durable and incredibly effective water bottle!
[Rewarded Review] Great but heavy

I purchased the 40 oz Wide Mouth with Flex Straw Cap. Here are some great things about it. 1. The amount of liquid it holds is perfect for the days you decide to go on a hike with your friend but your friend doesn’t understand that you’re a couch potato and therefore the hike she does 3-4 times a week, is killing you, so the amount of times you have to stop and drink water to make it through… it definitely holds the right amount. 2. It keeps the water super cold, when you put in cold water and then put the container in the fridge! I’ve noticed the water stays cold for the whole day. 3. Easy to take apart and clean
Things I’m not so fond of, 1. The water container is heavy, empty. So it is even heavier filled. Just something to consider. 2. Doesn’t fit in cup holders, it would be great if the same size container was tapered on the bottom to fit into standard size car cup holders. 3. The straw spits when filled, (or refilled) and flipped open. So just be careful around phones/computers or other electronics as a bit of water does come out of the flex straw.
Overall, I do love the water bottle and use it daily.
Poor thermal properties

The manufacturers claim; "TempShield:registered: double-wall vacuum insulation keeps drinks cold up to 24 hours, hot up to 12". We purchased 2 of the water bottles, 1-40oz and 1-24oz. The bottles were purchased in late October in Canada, cool temperatures day and more so in the evening. Room temps are kept at 21c or 70f, not hot, and with a minimum of 12 ice cubes in the 40oz, indoors, the icecubes are gone after 4-6 hours, and the water is only a little chillier than room temperature at 24 hours. I'm not keeping it in the sun, or near a heater, the bottles are merely not as advertised. I hear Yeti is no different, previously purchased a $20 bottle 4 years ago, no name brand, I dropped it twice, first time broke the release to pop up the straw, second time had a small dent. The cheapy bottle came with a "sock" for lack of a better word, perhaps this helped to keep it cold, Hydro Flask also offer a "sling" but no where is it written on their website that it helps retain cold or heat. I would not buy Hydro Flask again.
