So Sad

February 5, 2025I recently bought a new espresso machine. At first I was all about using glass mugs to enjoy the visuals, but they didn't keep my drinks warm enough/long enough. Then I shopped for insulated ones, and bought a 14oz mug that did the job. But then I wanted something larger, for drinks like a London Fog or Dirty Chai latte. I've loved HydroFlask for years, so when I found this 24oz one (it's the only one I found that can be angled to fit under my brew head), I ordered it. It seemed on the heavy side when it arrived, but I told myself that I wasn't planning on going anywhere with it, that I'd only be using it at home. I just made a London Fog, The size was great. So far. my drink is hot. But that brings me to the "so sad" part. It's just too heavy. Yes, I can lift it, and drink from it, but I feel it in my wrist/hand and can't see myself using it with any regularity. Regretfully, it's going to have to be returned.

October 4, 2024It is a very cute and handy size coffee tumbler and fits nicely to the grip. The added handle, making it highly portable and convenient. It also comes with excellent double-wall insulation and is equipped with a very clever (pending patent) flexsip lid for a leak-proof guarantee. I was impressed by the design at first sight overall and almost gave it a five-star rating until I took my first sip - the plastic taste from the lid/silicone seal induced by the hot brew just put me off completely. I washed it a few times following the instructions and waited at least 2 minutes before closing the lid as per the guideline; it remains the same. Perhaps with more washing and use, it could be better over time.

October 3, 2024What I loved about this compared to others on the market was the portability! The size is the perfect amount for a quick drink and the handle makes it so easy to carry. Even though it's metal, it's super lightweight. The design is sleek and sophisticated. I had it in the front seat of my car and it went flying when I braked (whoops) and it didn't spill at all so it's sturdy and well made. The drinking experience is so good, the spout is easy to drink from. It does its job so well that I had to cool it a bit before drinking so I'd recommend adding your coffee at the correct drinking temp because the flask will keep that temp. My new favourite product honestly and I'm going to look at others in the range.
Comparing this one to Yeti

October 7, 2024I was trying to decide between Hydro Flask and Yeti for a 12ish oz mug with a handle (a classic debacle) and after doing some research I will say I was initially hoping to get the Yeti -- but when I saw them in person it was clear the Yeti wouldn't fit in my car's cup holder (it has a noticeably wider circumference). The Yeti is definitely heavier and feels sturdier, and TBH the seal **seems** more reliable -- but I'm confident the Hydro Flask will do just fine. I know there's various studies about exactly how long the liquid can stay cool or hot -- but for me personally, just having something warm for like one hour for a road trip or camping is just fine! The rounded handle on the Hydro Flask does seem more comfortable for me than the Yeti's square one. If you similarly don't need to worry too much about duration of temperature, I think the size and weight will be the main considerations.
