West Midlands Safari Park's pride of lions have predicted England to crash out of Euro 2024.

The pride, which has never yet predicted a correct result, were given a choice of two boxes with food inside, one with a thumbs up and one with a thumbs down.

They opted for the thumbs-down box meaning Gareth Southgate's squad would again be coming home empty-handed.

But football fans can breathe a sigh of relief after keeper Alex Kenny admitted the animals had never been correct.

Mr Kenny said he and the other keepers had tried to get the lions to predict numerous sporting tournaments but to this day they had been wrong every time.

Speaking before the prediction was made, he told BBC Hereford & Worcester: "I am sure they will predict a good outcome for England."

Discussing the pride's woeful success rate, he added: "There is a first time for everything."

England's Euro 2024 campaign starts on Sunday at 20:00 BST against Serbia.

They will then face Denmark on 20 June before their final Group C game against Slovenia on 25 June.
