Well, the latest and greatest (at least as per Mozilla) Firefox 79 update has not gotten down well with the users. In fact, users are pretty baffled with this new update due to missing features.
Reportedly, a new update was rolled over by Mozilla for its Firefox web browser for Android. The update arrived with version number v79. While it should have brought new features and support, it has not impressed the users so far.
The new Firefox 79 update brings a host of changes to the UI and bug fixes. But taking a look at the Google Play Store ratings, users disgruntled users are showing their frustration via down-rating the app.
Notably, the update started rolling out last week via the stable channel. As already mentioned though it brings some new features, the replacement of some key old features is what the issue.
The new Firefox 79 is named Firefox Daylight by Mozilla. Moreover, it is based on Mozilla's own GeckoView engine. It syncs with Firefox accounts and has the same level of tracking protection.
However, the lack of support for extensions is one of the key reasons behind this user outrage. The new Firefox 79 update brings only a handful of add-ons to the web browser.

Seeing the severe backlash from the users, a Mozilla developer came out to respond to this situation. As per the developer, the main Firefox addons repository is in development.
This solely confirms that it is not there currently in the new Firefox 79 update. Before this update, Firefox maintained an average user rating of 4.3/5 stars on the Play Store.
However, after this v79 Firefox update, the rating has gone down to 4/5 stars. Notably, the 1-star rating now accounts for more than every other ratings.
Besides, if you look at the analytics data by SensorTower the spike in negative review outnumber the positive reviews. Moreover, a subreddit post for the update now has over 600 comments.
Not so surprisingly, the majority of those 600 comments is from the dis-satisfied users. In fact, other complaints include the removal of about:config (a page with advanced settings), migration issues, new tab-switcher problem, etc.
Additionally, the response to the official tweet announcing this new update is also mostly negative. So, looking at the user complaints, it is better to avoid this update.
