System1 is a large Internet company with many content sites, including leading how-to site HowStuffWorks.com. We are currently looking for freelance writers to produce high-quality, engaging, and highly shareable content.
This is a freelance writing role, with the potential for it to be an ongoing project. The ideal candidate has proven experience creating unique, accurate, informative, and engaging written content as well an understanding of what images work well in digital content. They also possess great attention to detail and can reliably meet strict deadlines. To participate in this ongoing project, the candidate will need to use our proprietary CMS and create an account on a separate platform for payment processing.
The Role You Will Have
- Research, write and choose images for original, accurate, and impactful content
- Craft highly shareable and attention-grabbing headlines
- Write content on a wide variety of topics for diverse audiences on multiple sites
- Find, edit, and properly attribute images to complement written content
- Meet regular submission deadlines
What You Will Bring
- BA/BS degree in journalism/news media, creative writing, or a related field
- Familiarity with viral Web content and the components that make content viral
- 2-4 years experience as a professional writer, content developer, or technical writer with proven communication skills
- Experience writing professional online content
- Incredible attention to detail and intolerance for errors
- Ability to manage your own workload effectively, whether it's quick turnarounds or longer-term projects
- Proficient in Google Sheets
- Experience working with a CMS
