DuckDuckGo Reimagined & Redesigned

Today DuckDuckGo is launching a reimagined and redesigned version that focuses on smarter answers and a more refined look. This new version adds often requested features like images, local search, auto-suggest and much more. Check out what's new!

Our strict, no-tracking privacy policy remains the same: we simply do not collect or share personal information. We don't track you. In response to the NSA revelations, people are seeking out private alternatives as seen by our tripling of direct searches this past year.

We are also laying the ground work for the future of DuckDuckHack , our open-source instant answer platform that anyone can contribute ideas or code to. Multiple instant answers can be present in our new answer bar and we have plans to keep extending this functionality, with your help!

Our hope is that our focus on smarter search and real privacy will appeal to a significant percentage of people. It's certainly what we and our community want in our search engine!

We've been working on this next version for the greater part of a year and a lot of people deserve much thanks including:
--Our community in general for guiding us with excellent feedback and translations.
--Our community leaders for helping to organize our awesome community.
-- DuckDuckHack developers for helping us make instant answers from the best sources a reality.
--Our source partners for being great at what you do and making quality open instant answers possible for the Web at large. We use 100s of sources already and hope to ultimatley grow to 1000s. Special thanks to Yahoo, Yandex, Amazon, Ebay, Yelp, Wolfram Alpha, OSM, Mapbox, Wikipedia, Stack Exchange, Yummly, Forecast.io, and Rotten Tomatoes for working with us so closely.
--Our amazing team . I'm thankful to get to work with each of you.

What can I say?
Expected another 'touchtard' Lego block interface like W8, and was very pleasantly surprised. It probably will be easier to use on the average fondleslab, too.
Well done folks!

PS We are all oh-so-ready for DuckWebMail, whenever you are in the mood!

How come there are more features in chrome then in firefox. Example: you have a left right click fancy button whn you have a long list of images( and or other stuff). And when changing themes its smooth in, when using chrome. When using firefox it just blink in to the new theme. And some others.

Just a word of thanks to DDG. Been using it for a couple of years since before the revelations regarding privacy. Being in the UK we have GCHQ which is probably worse than the NSA and even more unaccountable and with little or no oversight from government. I dont doubt they find ways around many attempts to protect individual privacy but at least a message gets sent to them and politicians that its becoming a major issue with the public.

Came across duckduckgo.com today itself and boy am I glad. few days back we posted about a search engine giant's monopolistic & anti-competitive business practices and we were arguing the possible resolve which was to move on to another search engine. Kudos to the team. looking forward to my searches here. #plbkkt via #hshdsh

Those images *do* clutter up the search results. To me they are but an annoyance. Please provide an entrypoint to duckduckgo.com that presents results with an absolute minimum of such disturbing 'features'.

Amazing! Loving the redesign and even though I had DDG as default for a long time now I quite often used google from search bar but for the last couple of days I simply fall in love with next. version and simply stopped using google!

Thanks, this is soooo great! :-)

OK, addendum: for no apparent reasons each time I access DDG my settings seem to reset itself to the defaults (despite having clud sync and setting it each time to 'dark') which is highly annoying as the wites simply burn my eyes :(

Since the new changes, the search relevance is very poor in my experience! What's changed, aside from the design?

Add S2S encryption to your XMPP, I can't connect anymore!

Kudos for the new design. I used to use duckduckgo to search in google using the !g bang, but I guess I'll give the default search a try now :)
