It seems like a long time since demand for the iPod was
overtaken by the iPhone, but there's still a place for
what is largely the same device, sans phone and high
price.
Not that it's especially cheap -- with no low-memory versions
available you'll need to shell out £249 for the 32GB model or
£329 for the big ol' 64GB.

The BlackBerry Music Gateway offers a neat way to get your
phone-bound audio out of your headphones and into your home, with a
wireless link to home or car music systems without USB, HDMI or
other digital connections.
If you're bang up-to-date you'll be pumping your hard
drive-based music collection to your Hi-Fi devices in every room as
well as your phone and tablet. But if you're not quite there yet,
and you have a BlackBerry, there's a cheapish alternative. Full review

Klipsch's Image S4 earphones have been around for some time, but
the audio company recently launched a rugged edition, which
promises weather resistance alongside impressive sound quality --
we took them for a spin to find out how they perform.
First-off, they're colourful. The rugged Image S4is are
available in red, blue, orange, and yellow. That means that you can
match them to your iPhone case, trainers or hat if you so desire.
The buds themselves are small, and come with a rubberised coating
that doesn't exist on the regular S4is. It'll probably absorb a bit
of the impact in a drop situation, but you still won't want to
stand on them. Full review

Samsung's Chromebox is a low-price,
few-frills desktop PC that runs on
Google's Chrome operating system. It's just a box, with
no keyboard, mouse or display, but offers desktop power in a
discreet package for a budget price.
It's certainly compact, at just 193x193x33mm and
1.11kg, and looks a bit like a Mac Mini (though in black and
chrome, rather than white) but still manages to pack in a decent
range of ports, including six USB (four on the back and two on the
front, all 2.0, with none of the faster 3.0 version you'll find on
higher price devices). There's also DVI for your display, gigabit
Ethernet for a wired connection to the web (though it also has
built-in 802.11b a, b, g and n Wi-Fi, plus Bluetooth 3.0), a
headphone/mic jack and a couple of DisplayPort outputs which you
can use with HDMI via an adapter. There are no built-in memory card
readers, though you can add one via a USB adapter. Full review

We wouldn't normally bother reviewing iPod cases
on Wired.co.uk but
the i.Fuzen HP-1 by Auzentech is a bit different, since
it also includes a built-in, dual-output headphone amp and a spare
battery. Full review
