More about this add-on

Ghostfox is a simple extension that allows you to hide your browser window whenever you might not want someone looking over your shoulder at it. Click the icon in the status bar, and it removes Firefox from the task bar and makes the window completely disappear. When you want to see it again, perform a simple mouse gesture (left of screen, right of screen, and back left) and Firefox appears embedded in the currently focused window. Click the icon in the status bar again, and Firefox is restored to normal mode.

Developer Comments

Ghostfox is currently in the process of being adopted by a new developer. Please be patient while this transition takes place. The project is being entirely reviewed, and I am certain that many changes will be made as we move forward.

CRITICAL UPDATE: A new version (version 0.2.1.0) has been released as a critical update. All users of ghostfox MUST download this new version ASAP! It will be a while before the extension gets updated here. However Ghostfox 0.2.1.0 is currently available for download at http://ghostfox.mozdev.org/

Please read the FAQ page available at http://ghostfox.mozdev.org/faq.html before posting a comment/review here.

Rendering pages in greyscale and not showing images, are part of the functionality of the extension and NOT a bug. If you experience problems with using the extension please post about it at http://ghostfox.mozdev.org/notes.html

IMPORTANT: Neither this extension or the creator of it are in anyway associated with http://ghostfox.googlecode.com/. This google code project is NOT authorised in any way by me. Obtain ghostfox ONLY from here or from http://ghostfox.mozdev.org/

Ghostfox is currently incompatible with firetitle and firesomething.

Dont even think twice about it

I've been using Ghostzilla for about 3-4 years and up until recently never had a problem with it. Now it seems some websites, always changing, like Digg.com, can no longer be supported by the Ghostzilla browser. So I came looking for a Mozilla answer. Talk about disappointing. Ghostzilla had 6 or 7 different display options, this only has 4. So having black text but images that dont show up until you mouse over them like im used to, gone. Its either all or nothing here. One of my biggest grips is that when you "Ghost" your whole upper address bar and every dang tool bar up there is still shown. That doesnt blend very well into Excel or any program and defeats the whole purpose. Ghostzilla had two little collapsable tool bars that nearly disappeared when not in use. Another little issue is that once I "unghost" or "bust" as its called here and go back to my regular browser view, my ForecastFox disappears from the bottom of my browser and I have to restart every time. Also, this program makes your browser either Ghost or not, you cant have both at the same time, meaning you cant have one Firefox window open for normal work related web browsing and a ghosted one for un-work related browsing. And since it has already been noted in other reviews, this is not the most user friendly program. I was fully prepared to offer a favorable review but this program is broken and a huge disappointment. Do yourself a favor, dont even think twice about it, nothing to see here, move along.
