You Cannot Close the Privacy Report Dialog Box by Pressing ALT+C

SYMPTOMS

After you view the privacy report for a Web site in Internet Explorer 6, you cannot press ALT+C on the keyboard to close the Privacy Report dialog box.

For example, you may experience either of the following behaviors when you do this:
  • If an item in the Web sites with content on the current page list is selected, and you press ALT+C to close the Privacy Report dialog box, the Privacy Policy dialog box is displayed instead.

    -or-
  • If no item in the Web sites with content on the current page list is selected, and you press ALT+C to close the Privacy Report dialog box, the dialog box does not close. It remains displayed on your screen.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, press ESC or ALT+F4 to close the Privacy Report dialog box.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

A Privacy Report icon is displayed on the Internet Explorer status bar when you visit a Web site that does not meet your privacy preferences. Double-click the icon to open the Privacy Report dialog box and view the site's privacy report. The privacy report provides information about a site's privacy policy and can tell you how its privacy practices conflict with the preferences that you set.

You can also view a privacy report for any Web site when you click Privacy Report on the View menu.
