Screen Reader Program Does Not Read Cookie Headings in Advanced Privacy Settings Dialog Box

SYMPTOMS

When you use keyboard commands to move through the items in the Advanced Privacy Settings dialog box, you cannot determine whether the focus is on an item under First-Party Cookies or Third-Party Cookies.

CAUSE

This problem occurs in the following situation:
  • You use a screen reader program to read the contents of the Advanced Privacy Settings dialog box.

    -and-
  • You use keyboard commands to move through the items in the Advanced Privacy Settings dialog box.
Screen reader programs may be unable to read the First-Party Cookies and Third-Party Cookies headings when you use keyboard commands to move through the items in the Advanced Privacy Settings dialog box.

These headings are correctly read when you use a mouse to move through the items in the Advanced Privacy Settings dialog box.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, use a mouse to move through the items in the Advanced Privacy Settings dialog box.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
