the final Netscape, Netscape Navigator 9.0.0.6

Netscape has released the last Netscape browser, Netscape Navigator 9.0.0.6 including the security bugs fixed by Firefox 2.0.0.12. Netscape 9.0.0.5's UserAgent string indicates Gecko rendering engine rv 1.8.1.12.

Netscape 9.0.0.6 includes new migration add-on to help users migrate to either Flock or Firefox. WeatherBug add-on has been removed from this version.

The out-sourcing and integration of with MSIE engine in Netscape 8 was largely criticised, and the announcement of Netscape 9 first started in late January 2007 with the first shipping version Netscape Navigator 9.0 in October 2007, and the last version Netscape Navigator 9.0.0.5 was released on 10 December 2007. Just before the end of 2007, AOL announced to discontinue Netscape (browser) support in February 2008; later in January, the support has been extended to 1st March 2008.
