NHS Supply Chain manages the sourcing, delivery and supply of clinical consumables, capital medical equipment and products such as food and office solutions for NHS trusts and healthcare organisations across England and Wales. Managing more than 8 million orders per year, across 94,000 order points and over 17,400 locations. NHS Supply Chain delivers over 28 million lines of picked goods to the NHS annually and our systems consolidate orders from over 900 suppliers, saving trusts time and money in removing duplication of overlapping contracts.

    We’re delighted to announce the winner of our Operational Excellence Problem Solving Competition 2024 that took place on Wednesday 5 June 🏆 There were seven entrants this year representing different areas of the business with problem solves ranging from Important Customer Notices (ICNs) and Regional Advisory Forum Packs to Home Delivery Service (HDS) and NICE Guidance. Huge congratulations to Becky Astill and Deane Bridges for winning the NHS Supply Chain Operational Excellence Problem Solving Competition, and well done to all our finalists Janine Baker, Jatinder Pangulia, Julia Dolan, Michaela Russell MCIPS, MSc and Natalie Nelson (ACMA). Becky Astill, Contract Launch Project Manager, said “I am thrilled to be recognised for the additional work we do as a green belt in the Operational Excellence Community, to support both our colleagues and customers. It is a privilege to belong to such a supportive community that actively celebrates and champions all the good work that is being done.” 💬 Deane Bridges, Out of Hospital Care Manager said “I am overjoyed to receive recognition for the effort I have put into solving the Home Delivery Service Quarterly Report production problem. First and foremost, I could not have achieved this without the support of the wider Operational Excellence community. An opportunity for a Business Improvement Advisor to join our team during an exciting period of transformation, working to make it easier for the NHS to put patients first. As a Business Improvement Advisor, you will be responsible for providing specialist advice, recommendations and support to our NHS Trust leadership teams (both clinical and non-clinical) to improve their in-hospital supply chain processes from backdoor to scanning clinical products to a patient, to drive better patient and business outcomes. Reviewing Inventory Management (IM) and Point of Care (PoC) processes and systems, identifying where improvements and efficiencies can be gained, driving forward improvements, benefits realisation and patient safety. You will support changes of culture, approach, systems and processes within trusts. You will be capable of planning and prioritising work, managing competing demands and deadlines and you will have the enthusiasm and drive to deliver results.
