On Friday, GoodFX hosted a lively roundtable discussion as part of our #ProjectHecuba, an initiative aimed at advancing female inclusion within digital training programmes in Kenya. Voices from Na'amal, Learning Lions, Development Dynamics | B Corp, AimHire and GoodFX led the discussion into the challenges and strategies surrounding this subject. Some of our key takeaways included: 🔹The associated difficulties of achieving an equal participation rate from women and men in different fields, especially in STEM 🔹The cruciality of involving men in the conversation promoting equality; emphasising the benefits of gender equality efforts for everyone 🔹The importance of donor coordination in navigating preferences for female inclusion initiatives when individual parties will have individual preferences and thoughts on how to implement positive bias 🔹Dedication to creating an environment which supports and uplifts women in a non-judgemental way and respects cultural differences A huge thank you to Nova Arkney, Phelsia Kojwang, June Helderle, Sonia Cătinean, Robert Hayward, and Gezana Rai for participating. We will be implementing these learnings in the upcoming training programme. These findings will join our extensive field and desk research to go into a comprehensive research report on this subject - please leave a comment if this is something you'd be interested in receiving once published!🌟 #ProjectHecuba #ResilientPeople

🤩 Check out the latest issue of the Forced Migration Review! 🤩 In this issue, andhira kara, Selen Ucak, Giselle Gonzales, and our very own founder and executive director Lorraine Charles delve into the barriers displaced people face in accessing digital work and propose actionable solutions in the article, "Inclusive and Dignified Digital Work: Linking Markets and Displaced People." Drawing from their diverse experiences in upskilling refugees, facilitating job linkages, and impact investing, they explore how digital work can be a game-changer for both refugees and host communities. Despite the potential, significant obstacles remain—from acquiring advanced skills to accessing paid opportunities and unlocking capital for digital livelihoods. This article highlights innovative models like impact sourcing and refugee lens investing that can bridge these gaps and create inclusive online economies.
