Boeing is searching for a new CEO, and Carrier's CEO, David Gitlin, comes from an Aerospace background, previously leading Collins Aerospace. But David Gitlin is continuing to exceed performance at Carrier as their CEO. And Carrier's board does not want to lose him, so they've offered him a huge retention package. "At Carrier, he's arguably proven America's most successful industrial leader for rewarding shareholders. In four years at the controls, Gitlin's multiplied Carrier's market cap from around $12 billion to $58 billion and delivered annualized total returns of roughly 50%. During that span, Carrier's stock has outperformed the shares of Microsoft, Apple, Alphabet and every other member of the Magnificent Seven save Nvidia..." A new long-term payday for Carrier's CEO is expected to be around $150M. #buildingautomation #hvac #climatetech

The sun shines (sometimes). Could carbon capture be a partner to renewables? Solar and wind energy are fantastic, but their inconsistency creates a "gap" in grid reliability. This "intermittency gap" challenges grid integration. While advancements in battery storage offer promise, another technology could play a promising role: carbon capture. Capturing carbon emissions and potentially storing them underground could create a reliable baseline for the grid. This allows deeper integration of renewables even when the wind isn't blowing or the sun isn't shining. Is carbon capture the missing piece for a truly renewable future? —— Read more at: https://lnkd.in/gb-GNqgd

Revamping older structures for sustainability can be tricky. But what if there was a way to achieve dramatic energy savings without compromising their heritage? Integrating smart controls with building automation can optimize resource utilization in older structures while maintaining occupant comfort. The best bits? - Energy-efficient climate control: Wireless room thermostats and radiator valves allow for individual room control and integrate with a central building management system for monitoring. Energy-efficient fan coil units can also be used to replace outdated systems. - Occupancy sensors for optimized use: Automatic temperature adjustments based on room vacancy ensure energy isn't wasted on empty spaces. Guests still have individual control when the room is occupied. - Wireless technology for minimal disruption: EnOcean energy harvesting eliminates the need for constant battery changes in sensors. Wireless communication further reduces installation work and downtime compared to wired systems. - Sustainable benefits: Automation and occupancy detection lead to reduced energy consumption. Integrating with window contact sensors allows for automatic deactivation during ventilation, further boosting efficiency. This approach aligns with building energy regulations promoting renewable energy use. Is this the key to future-proofing our existing buildings? —— Find out more, here: https://lnkd.in/gS7qxP4i #SmartBuildings #BuildingAutomation

Keyframe recently co-hosted an event with Boston Consulting Group (BCG) on the impacts of Gen AI on data center growth (aka the grid). Some interesting conclusions at the link below! Devika Kumar did an A++ job pulling this event together and making it awesome!
Increased AI adoption and investments, driven by Gen AI, are expected to significantly increase electricity demand for data centers, from ~2.5% of total U.S. electricity consumption in 2022 to ~7.5% by 2030. Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and Keyframe recently hosted a panel to discuss the opportunities and path forward. Thanks to our panelists and organizers Matthew Sundberg John Rapaport Marissa Hummon Rajeev O. Athanasios Caramanolis and Devika Kumar for their insights and participation.
