This sort of opp doesn’t come around often - so listen up Sous Chefs! We’re on the hunt for either Junior Sous, Sous or Senior Sous’ to be a part of this very special working farm to fork restaurant/café in Sussex. You will collaborate with the Head Chef on the ongoing menu development of innovative and inspiring dishes making use of fruit and veg grown on the land and organic meat from the land’s wild roaming animals. This is a daytime role, plus one sat evening a fortnight - and a dreamy 40 hour week. You will mostly be cooking on fire, but you don’t need previous experience in this. You will also have the opportunity to learn about regenerative agriculture, rewilding and growing fruit and veg from the team on site. Apply here: https://lnkd.in/emX5fKmR

👩🏻🍳 ACTUALLY GOOD AREA GUIDE 👩🏻🍳 Ever wondered where your fave chefs go to eat when they’re not at work? We asked them a bunch of questions to find out the best spots in their neighbourhood - next up is CDP of Lulu's London (and host of Full English Podcast), Lewis Bassett, and his guide to Herne Hill/Brixton 💚 Coffee: Max Snack Bar. It’s in Brixton, but not far from Herne Hill. You don’t go here for artisanal made coffee and Portuguese pastry, you go because it’s great value, because you’re likely to sit next to a friendly stranger drinking a glass of red wine at 9am and because in summer you can sit outside, opposite Brixton Rec and nurse a bottle of Sagres for as long as you like with no questions asked. Must Eat: Llewelyn's. I I’m biased because I used to work here and it’s the big brother to where I work now but I think it’s really underrated. A food influencer once said on Instagram that Llewellyn’s is not breaking the mould but doing many of things we already know really well, and I think that’s great praise. Elegant food, smart setting, interesting wine list. Also Umana Yana. I go here at lunch to get a vegan roti number, but there’s meat and veg options too. Debbie the chef and owner is so welcoming and her Guyanese cooking is nutritious, fresh and tasty. Couple of seats outside or you can take your food and eat it in the park. Must Drink: Hermit’s Cave. Again it’s not really in Herne Hill but I find all the pubs in my neighbourhood pretty bland. Hermit’s Cave is arguably even more bland, but it has a lot of character. It’s a relaxed vibe with a nice, hipsterish crowd. If you like your corporate stout then they sell a decent Murphy’s AND Guinness so... Although I’m also just very sentimental about this pub. Must Do: The Walled Garden in Brockwell Park is a great place to kiss someone, stare at plants and read a book. The caff (not café) in the park is also worth a visit if you like that kinda thing. Oh and the pizza at the lido is underrated (stick to a margherita though).

We often hear ‘I want a new role in Ops, can you help me?’. We hear this from range of different people across all levels of the industry with varying backgrounds from the front to the back. That magical end goal labelled ‘Ops’ seems to be where everyone is aiming for, but it’s clear that not everyone understands what it involves - so we unpacked it a bit. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eC4qrprX - PS it’s free to subscribe ofc.
