You’ve heard us talk about implementing a sustainable procurement strategy, but what’s the point of having one? 🤔 By focusing on their supply chain and collecting primary scope 3 data, businesses can reap a wide range of benefits: Inform procurement decisions 🔎 Collecting sustainability data from suppliers can standardise your supplier engagement approach, equip you to reduce costs, and increase the quality of your relationships with suppliers. Increase carbon accounting accuracy 🧮 Pairing procurement with supplier data collection reduces uncertainty and increases the granularity of your scope 3 emission calculations, also enabling you to achieve regulatory compliance confidently. Inform sustainability programmes 🌍 With more accurate data, you’re empowered to identify emission hotspots and environmental risks across your supply chain. You’ll also be able to substantiate emission reductions from your suppliers. Turn purchases into profit 💲 This sustainability data can inform company-level decision-making, such as generating new revenue streams with sustainable products that can be rewarded with premium price points. Sustainable procurement is a win-win for business and the planet, and we’re proud to be supporting customers such as Dolby Laboratories and CBRE with their strategy 🔭 You can read more about the business benefits of sustainable procurement strategies in Emitwise’s new eBook: https://lnkd.in/eWwKsQzZ #sustainableprocurement #procurement #strategy #supplychain #netzero #decarbonisation #emitwise #sustainability #climatechange #scope3 #businessbenefits

A supplier emissions management strategy is vital for companies pursuing Net Zero targets 🎯 Why is it important to start now? Regulations ⚖️ From CSRD to CBAM, companies are being requested to present a supply chain emissions mitigation strategy backed with credible and trustworthy data to meet the requirements of new regulations impacting businesses today. Standards 🪧 Accurate Supplier emissions data helps companies demonstrate climate leadership when reporting to CDP or EcoVadis. Equipped with this data, they protect themselves from greenwashing, now and in the future. Science-Based Targets 🎯 With scope 3 recognised as the largest source of emissions, the Science Based Targets initiative makes supply chain emissions analysis and reporting a requirement for setting targets. Reaching Net Zero by 2050 starts with sustainable procurement today. By acting now, companies can demonstrate measurable progress and equip themselves to make data-driven procurement decisions. 🌟 What a great time we had attending Gartner's Supply Chain Symposium in Barcelona. The event tackled many topics around future-proofing supply chains. Some of our key takeaways include: 📝 Procurement is driving Scope 3 decarbonisation. Value streams are being re-evaluated and prioritised to achieve company-level net zero goals, cost reductions, and reduced supply chain climate risk. (Marta Muñoz Méndez-Villamil, CSRM) 🌍 Only 28% of those surveyed by Gartner stated that climate impacts their daily workflow, yet carbon data needs to drive decisions every day to achieve those targets. 🤖 Technology enables and accelerates decarbonisation, but there is no silver bullet solution; implementing tailored solutions that address specific needs to drive impactful progress is essential. (Miguel Cossio) Thank you again to Gartner for having us! #GartnerSC #SupplyChain #Procurement #Sustainability #Events #Networking #Scope3

We've just published a new book, and we would love for you to read it 📖 It's technically an eBook, but that still counts, right? With scope 3 emissions accounting for 90% of a company's total emissions, supply chain engagement will be pivotal on the journey to Net Zero ⛓ To reach these decarbonisation targets, sustainability and procurement teams will need credible and trustworthy data to inform their emissions reduction strategies 📉 Emitwise's new guide explores what it really means to have a data-driven and low-carbon procurement strategy to meet Net Zero targets 🎯 We'd love to hear your thoughts!
