Bi-weekly Ukraine update: Main developments over the past two weeks   As we had expected, the Global Peace Summit on Ukraine held in Switzerland on 15-16 June did not yield any tangible progress or even a firm statement condemning Russia’s war in Ukraine. However, the fact that more than 90 countries attended underscores that the war remains a major global issue.   Meanwhile, power generation remains a critical issue as continued Russian attacks on energy infrastructure generate widespread blackouts for millions of Ukrainians and disrupt business operations. Ukrainian authorities say major power shortages are likely to continue for another 6-8 weeks, but the issue could continue well into the fall and possibly winter. The government is working to restore electricity generation ahead of winter by decentralising power facilities and boosting imports from the EU, but energy security will remain a critical issue as we expect Russia to continue targeting power generation facilities.   On the tactical side, little has changed on the frontline. Russia could still renew its offensive in Kharkiv in the north-east, but the main push is likely to remain in the east in Donetsk. US weapons supplies have started to arrive but are unlikely to make a major difference in the coming weeks.   On the bright side, Ukraine formally started EU accession talks this week. The talks are likely to last years, but the moment is a highly symbolic one as it is Ukraine’s aspiration to join the EU that sparked Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014 and its full-scale invasion in 2022. Stay tuned for our updates on the unfolding situation in Ukraine as well as any updates related to investing and operating in Ukraine.  You can access more of our resources here: - Rebuild Ukraine Special Report: https://lnkd.in/eQC4utcf - Control Risks Ukraine-Russia Monitor: https://lnkd.in/epCe2AmM - Need help defining your Ukraine strategy? https://lnkd.in/etyzfmdB   If you are interested in the business and investment landscape of Ukraine, you can also contact us here (https://lnkd.in/eJN6apCb) or reach out to me directly.   #UkraineUpdate #RebuildUkraine #Ukraine #EnergyInfrastructure #UkraineEnergyInfrastructure
