🌈 This month, we're celebrating Pride 🌈 June marks the start of Pride month - an opportunity to celebrate the LGBT+ voices and culture that have shaped our world, but also a powerful time to honour activists who fought for LGBT+ rights and those who uphold them today. Barclays' colleagues will unite globally to celebrate Pride, while reflecting on how we can strive to do better and continue to stand by and support the LGBT+ community. As a bank we remain committed to building a diverse, equitable and inclusive culture where our colleagues, customers and clients feel empowered to be their authentic selves - not just during Pride month, but every single day.

As a bank whose purpose is working together for a better financial future for customers, clients and communities, fostering an inclusive culture is essential to making sure that opportunities to succeed are equitable. We asked some of our amazing colleagues to describe their cultural heritage... ◾ Leesan Wong – “Hong Kong Chinese heritage, born in the UK” ◾ Philip Zamora – “Dual citizen (US and Philippines), born in the Philippines” ◾ Nazarene Sutherland – “Caribbean and Irish heritage” ◾ Justin Madubuko – “Igbo heritage, a tribe located in southeastern Nigeria” ◾ Laurence Beard – “English heritage” ◾ Marzia Hussain – “British Muslim Indian heritage” ◾ Jaimal Patel – “A Hindu, of British Indian heritage” ◾ Carleen Dussard – “Caribbean heritage - parents are from St Lucia and Grenada” ◾ Peace Akuma – “A Nigerian born Brit”

We disagree with the claims made today by The Bureau of Investigative Journalism and the Rainforest Action Network’s, ‘Banking on Climate Chaos’ report, regarding our financing for the Energy sector. The Bureau of Investigative Journalism accuse Barclays of providing $41bn of sustainability-linked financing to fossil fuel companies – a figure we believe is inflated. We reported $67.8bn of green, sustainable and transition finance in 2023, less than 5% of this was sustainability-linked finance to the Energy sector – as disclosed in our annual report. Barclays is financing an Energy sector in transition – an activity requiring significant capital. While doing so, our financed emissions for the Energy and Power sectors have reduced by 44% and 26% respectively, between 2020 and 2023. Our response to both claims can be read on our website: https://lnkd.in/dnrXem83
