The link between data optimisation and operational readiness is seen as a priority among the world’s senior business and IT defence and aerospace executives. However, only 48% of office-based decision makers lend their voice to this majority, compared to 60% of senior defence leaders at the coalface. If there isn’t consensus on the role of #data when it comes to mission readiness, then are defence assets being managed in an optimised way? More broadly, has defence completely embraced a Multi-Domain Integration mode of operating? Read our latest blog to find out ➡️http://baes.co/ItqW50Sh5WC #DAM #AssetManagement #MultiDomain

How much do you know about the technology that helped win World War II? With this year marking the 80th anniversary of D-Day, our Senior Radar and Antennae Engineer, Murray Niman, spoke to How it Works Magazine about one of the war’s most influential technologies – the #radar. He talks us through its fascinating history, including the early radar’s pivotal moment: the creation of an early warning system known as ‘Chain Home’ which was one of the key turning points in winning the war. Read the interview to find out more about ‘Chain Home’, including how it evolved over time and the wide-reaching impact it has had on science as a whole ➡️ http://baes.co/NscW50SfAmR

Last week, three of our cyber security experts, Berenike Vollmer , Harriet Rogers and Miriam Howe attended the 16th annual International Conference on Cyber Conflict, #CyCon2024. The flagship event of the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE), it brought together participants from over 40 countries across government, industry and academia to reflect on the future of tech and its potential to reshape global security dynamics. In their new blog, Berenike, Harriet and Miriam outline their five key takeaways from the event, sharing their views on the main themes that emerged. Covering everything from responsible deployment of AI, to strategic competition and norms in cyber operations, and the role of public-private sector collaboration, experts delivered insights that, as always, challenge and shape our understanding of emerging cyber issues. And what remained constant throughout was the sense of collective cyber defence needed to keep nations safe and citizens secure. Were you also at CyCon? Let’s keep the discussion going - share your key takeaways in the comments. Read the blog here: http://baes.co/slJ150SbTbc

It was our privilege to host the Qatar Computing Research Institute and the British Embassy in Doha at the historic Bletchley Park venue, home of the UK codebreakers. We discussed the continued significance of AI and cyber skills for future generations, with our BAE Systems’ technologists highlighting the many ways in which we’re sustaining the UK’s legacy in data science and artificial intelligence. We look forward to supporting Qatar with its ambitious vision to focus on AI technologies to meet the needs of our rapidly changing world. #ai #cyber #datascience

“If we don’t embrace different types of people, we’ll miss out on important skills that can make a meaningful difference on the battlefield. We must recognise the potential in #digital talent and reconceive our traditional values around military operations.” Transforming Defence for the digital future doesn’t just mean adopting new technologies. Re-thinking skill requirements and how we support recruits will be critical to success. In our latest Client Conversation, Colonel Richard Alston discusses the new era of digital defence: http://baes.co/ePeF50S8Bqm #DigitalSkills #DigitalDefence
