I often like to play as female when I have the choice, but I don't really think of the character as representing me anyway.
Playing a character you want to look at is just as common as playing a character you want to look like, I would imagine.
“Being trans to get an advantage in sport” is ironically actually a thing in speedrunning, most games have smaller hit boxes for the female player model, so it does provide an advantage…

The people who say that there’s no sexism in gaming; do they ever wonder why “trolls” consistently target people who point out sexism and take it to these extremes or is the whole thing just random chance to them every single time?
Wow. I watched this video a few months back, and I had no idea this had happened. I ultimately stopped being an active online gamer due to the harassment. Getting a message saying “hey whore” every time I logged onto PSN. Or being told a variety of sexually explicit things while playing online… it’s exhausting. Poor girl.
All these video games with their epic orchestral musical scores. Those concerned moms are right: there’s way too much violins in video games.
I don’t mind the violins, it’s the sax that’s the problem.

Its because they legitimately dont.
The “fuzz” from CRT monitors was something that was definitely accounted for and taken advantage of back in the day when it came to video games! While this effect is noticeable in 3D games, it’s MUCH more visible when it comes to 2D sprites:
Just look how much more depth these simple sprites of Princess Peach and Bowser from Super Mario RPG seem to have when seen through the “dots” of a CRT TV screen!
