I'm Transgender guy but I'm also black and disabled, so I am an Intersection of things people despise and it's hard asf when communities tend to be transphobic/transmisognistic, racist/anti black, and ableist. please treat black disabled trans queers with respect. ESPECIALLY BLACK TRANS WOMEN AND TRANSFEMS(especially if they're disabled too)
I can't articulate my words correctly but yeah it sucks that people treat us differently based off our skin tone/gender(especially if transfem)/mental or physical disabilities mixed all together into one. we exist and want to trust you enough to be our allies.
It's crazy to me that a bunch of people think "transfem" means "trans and feminine" and not "an umbrella term for the spectrum of camab trans identities." Like I'm not the biggest fan of the term either but come on.
yeah like, my understanding of "transfem" is that it's a relatively polite way of saying "amab, went through testosterone first puberty, etc; And is transitioning away from that but without specifying what specific gender they are. The "fem" in transfem is mostly a euphemism because the english language does not have convenient words for us to talk about ourselves
it is almost as if this language is imprecise and heavily wrapped up in unspoken connotation (as all language is) and that each person using this and similar terminology has a slightly different personal definition of what it means and so trying to draw lines in the sand of who is and isn't allowed to use this language for themselves will inevitably push some folk to the wayside and out of community.
I mean, the language was developed by transfems to talk about experiences and stuff. It's not imprecise and it has a clear meaning and it's pretty well known in community (it gets used irl the way it's supposed to), the only way you could not know what transfem means is not actually being around community or plugging your ears when someone gives you a definition. Sorry, your argument is invalid.
"everyone has a different personal definition" no, transfem and transmasc were coined specifically to move away from agab and mtf/ftm language to be more inclusive towards non binary and intersex people. until very recently I've never even heard this "happens to be trans and fem/masc at the same time" definition. it has always been about the direction you're transitioning. a transfem can stil be butch, etc
it's got to be an actual concerted effort to make our language, that we make for ourselves to describe our experiences, less precise. (also weirdly i only ever hear about people misappropriating transfem/trans woman like this and not transmasc. weird how that works)

What they are doing here is trying to slowly build more and more demonisation of trans people as an insidious coercive force threatening kids, for an end goal that includes in this instance, taking trans kids transitioning on private healthcare away from their families.

Adding on that the map above is for laws against transgender adults. For trans youth, the map looks like this.
i need to add: this has very little to do with the social climate of these stares. it has everything to do with legislation and government power, not the transphobic neighbor in the blue state.
I cannot stress enough that this is NOT exaggeration they are calling for the complete abolition of trans people. And you may go "haha well. Thats just West Virginia" which first of all, fuck you for downplaying the struggle of trans people in a place just because you dont live there, and second of all its not just west virginia. This is the goal of all republican regimes across the country.
If you are not fighting against republicans with every fiber of your being at this point you are not a trans ally. If you tolerate the republicans in your family without challenging their ideas about trans people you are not a trans ally. Fight for us goddamnit or we will be culled and our blood will be on your fucking hands.
I hate to be the one to add this, but this won't just affect us trans people. The way you look in public will be scrutinized no matter if you're trans or not, and regardless of your idea of what a transgender person looks like, transgender people are quite often completely indistinguishable from cisgender people. This will be used as an excuse for cops to abduct literally anyone they want off the streets. There are no tests that are infallible, and certainly none that a cop will ever do besides "someone called" or "wrong haircut" or "I was bored". They would be able to arrest people for being homeless by accusing them of looking odd. They would be able to arrest protesters for looking odd. Anyone who isn't actively indoors on private property could just be thrown in jail. What the fuck kind of law is that to allow ok the books in any state whatsoever??? Totalitarian danger alerts should be going off everywhere right now
