Learn about meeting codes in Google Meet

Each meeting is given a unique meeting code. Codes expire based on what product the meeting is created from. You can create meetings from:

  • Google Calendar
  • Google Chat
  • Google Classroom
  • Gmail
  • Google Meet Breakout rooms
  • Google Meet homepage - meet.google.com.
  • Google Meeting room device
  • Google Nest
  • Jamboard
  • Other third-party software. For example, Outlook.

Check when your code expires

To make sure you don't join a meeting with an expired code and to better plan for the future meetings you create, check when meeting codes expire.

Meetings started in Google Calendar

Meeting codes expire when these conditions are met:

  • The meeting code hasn’t been used for 365 days.
  • The meeting code isn’t associated with any future calendar events.

Tip: If a code is generated in another product, then pasted on a Calendar invite, that meeting isn’t a Calendar-generated meeting. The code expires based on what product the meeting is created from.
