Check your data usage

To avoid surprises on your next billing statement, you can keep tabs on your current data use. You can also check the amount of time left in your billing cycle.

If you use an Android device, you can add the Google Fi widget to your home screen. This shortcut lets you keep your data usage on hand.

Check your Google Fi data use:

  1. On your device, open the Google Fi app Google Fi.
  2. Select the Home tab.
  3. Check the “Data usage” section.
  4. To find your daily breakdown select See activity.

The information on the widget and the Google Fi app update your information in close to real time. Real-time data is available for your device with Android 7.0 (Nougat) and the most recent version of the Google Fi app.

It takes about a day for your data usage to show up in the Google Fi website. It might take longer for international data charges to show up. Find your extra charges.

Tip: Your current data use is a live estimate. Your use might change throughout your billing cycle. Your bill lists the total amount of data that you used each month.

Turn off data automatically when you hit a limit
You can use your phone's settings to set a data limit. When your data reaches that limit, mobile data on your phone will turn off automatically and you'll get a notification.
Turn off data use on individual apps for iPhone & iPad
To set which apps are allowed to use data on your iPhone:
  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Cellular.
  3. Scroll and turn off any app you don't want to use your data on.
How you're charged for data

With the Flexible plan, you’re charged a rate of $10 per GB for data until you reach your Bill Protection data limit. With Unlimited Plus or Simply Unlimited plans, data is included. Learn more about Data Speeds.

Monitor & budget data usage

You can get an alert when you use a specific amount of data. If you're a group plan owner, you can also get alerts for each member in your group.

You can also decide how much data can be used before data is slowed down. When you reach a slow data limit, data speeds reduce to 256 kbps.
