Connect a website to a Bluetooth device

Chrome lets you connect a website to your Bluetooth devices. For example, if you have a Bluetooth-enabled heart monitor, you can let a website connect to it. Then, the page can record and show information about the monitor.

Bluetooth is a standard short-range wireless communication between devices. Bluetooth "Classic" is a set of binary protocols that supports speeds up to 24 Mbps. Bluetooth 4.0 introduced a new "Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)" mode that is limited to 1 Mbps but allows devices to leave their transmitters off.

Important: Currently, Chrome only supports connecting to a Bluetooth Low Energy device.

When to give access to your device

Only give device access to a trusted site. If you pair a website with your device, the site gets all the information on the device and can even reprogram it. You can choose your default permission setting on your computer.

Pair a webpage in Chrome with your device

Important: You can pair a webpage when you use Chrome on a computer or Android device. iPhone and iPad devices don't support connections between Bluetooth devices and websites in Chrome.

  1. On your computer or phone, make sure Bluetooth is turned on. On the Bluetooth device, make sure the device is discoverable.
  2. In Chrome, open a webpage that can connect to your device.
  3. Click or tap the page. You'll be asked to add a device.
  4. Choose a device from the list.
  5. Choose Pair or Connect.

Troubleshoot Bluetooth pairing problems

If the site can't find your device, click Search again.

If the site can't find your device, make sure that Bluetooth is turned on for your computer:

When both devices have Bluetooth turned on, re-scan for your device.

Tip: If you're on a Windows computer and still can't connect to Bluetooth, you may need to change your privacy settings to allow apps to control device radios. To learn more about system settings, go to the Microsoft help center.

Remove devices connected with Chrome

You can remove a website's access to your devices.

To remove a website's access to your Bluetooth devices, at the top left, tap Reload Reload.
