Open Chrome quickly on your phone or tablet

When you install Chrome, you can get to the app faster if you add it to your home screen, lock screen, or your dock. After you install Chrome and open it once, the Chrome widget will be available.

Add Chrome widget to your home screen
  1. On your home screen, touch and hold an empty space.
  2. At the top of the screen, tap Add New tab.
  3. Search for Chrome widgets and select Chrome.
  4. Swipe to find Chrome widgets.
  5. At the bottom on the screen, tap Add Widget Add question.

Add Chrome widget to your lock screen

Important: This feature is only available on iPhone.

  1. On your lock screen, touch and hold an empty space.
  2. At the bottom of the screen, tap Customize.
    • To select a new wallpaper with widgets, tap Add New Add question.
  3. To customize your lock screen, tap the lock screen.
  4. On the screen, tap Add Widgets.
    • If your lock screen already has widgets, under the time, tap the box with widgets.
  5. Under "Add Widgets," scroll to find and tap Chrome.
  6. Swipe left for available widgets.
  7. Tap or drag the widget to your lock screen.
  8. Next to "Add Widgets," tap Close Close.
  9. At the top right, tap Done.
  10. To exit customization mode, tap the lock screen again.
Add Chrome widget to your Today view
  1. From the home screen, swipe right to the Search bar.
  2. Scroll, then tap Edit.
  3. At the top of the screen, tap Add New tab.
  4. Search for Chrome widgets and select Chrome.
  5. Swipe to find Chrome widgets.
  6. At the bottom on the screen, tap Add Widget Add question.
  7. To complete, tap anywhere on the screen.

Add Chrome to your dock
  1. To add Chrome Chrome, you may have to create space on your dock.
    1. To remove an app, touch and hold the app you want to remove.
    2. Drag the app to your home screen and release it.
  2. Touch and hold Chrome Chrome.
  3. Tap Edit Home Screen.
  4. Drag the Chrome app to your dock and release it.
  5. To complete, tap anywhere on the screen.
Tip: If you're on an iPhone 6s or later, you can press and hold the Chrome app to start a new Voice Search, open a new tab, scan a QR code, or find your most-visited sites.
