We’re taking part in a new project investigating how to better scale up services like rental, resale and repair. The Fashion ReModel, an Ellen MacArthur Foundation demonstration project, works with leading brands to find solutions and unlock barriers to rolling out circular business models, which will bring the possibility for fashion to decouple growth from production. “We’re looking forward to working with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation again. Their previous project, The Jeans Redesign, pushed us to explore what circular design could mean for our product assortment and now The Fashion ReModel is set to do the same with circular business models. The opportunity presented by decoupling the fashion industry’s growth from resource use is huge and this project can bring better understanding of how to further scale these models”, Leyla Ertur, Director of Sustainability, H&M Group. H&M Group came out top in a new report by the environmental organisation Stand.earth that assesses the progress brands are making in reducing emissions and transitioning to renewable energy. Clean Energy Close Up evaluated the work of 11 top fashion brands. According to Stand.earth we were awarded the highest total score because of our leading supply chain emissions and renewable electricity targets, and for offering the most tangible financial support, supplier engagement and effective supply chain advocacy. “At H&M Group, we are committed to cutting our absolute emissions and achieving net-zero by 2040. The results of Stand.earth’s report shows that we are heading in the right direction. But, there’s still much more to do, both as a company and as an industry.
