I think this is a great app! It gives you tips when you click on a word you don't know, they speak very clearly and give you the option to slow it down. It gives you an opportunity to go over what you missed, sometimes it even gives the point back. You have opportunities to level up or skip levels by testing out! The best part? It's all free! Unless of course you want no ads and limitless hearts, but you can earn hearts (lives) by watching ads. This is way better than Babbel in my opinion.

New updates, new review! And wow, I cannot recommend AGAINST this app any more. The sentences have become awkward and unnatural and SO REPETITIVE. And all the language discussion is gone, all the information is gone. You can no longer learn a language with Duolingo. You memorize weird sentences in foreign languages. And it's impossible to be sure if you're getting the pronunciation right because all the voices sound like bad AI (I think it might be because they're bad AI).

Duolingo is really well designed to incentivise learning a new language and uses easy bite-size lessons. However a few months ago the lessons were restructured to add new vocab and encourage people to revise old lessons- instead of encouraging this, it only shook my confidence. Instead, it would be better to encourage going back over lessons by incentivising it another way such as the daily quests. Overall, this app is good but not perfect.
