  • It’s time for our #WorldRefugeeDay campaign. This year we’re starting it by acknowledging that the list of refugees deaths that we’ve been compiling for more than 31 years has now reached 60.620 entries, meaning that 60.620 lives have been lost forever, 60.620 people have no more future. For this reason we’re here once again to scream out loud #nomoredeaths and to advocate for changing the Fatal policies of Fortress Europe that cause so much death. We hope you’ll find our content useful and that you can be inspired to start your own action or to join those near you. Let us know how you will commemorate this day and #stayunited

⚽ 3 Days to go until the start of the #UEFAEURO Cup 2024! Following the challenge of the #EUElections, the European Continent is uniting to celebrate sport and competition. However, it’s important to remember that the strong emotions associated with football can sometimes lead to violence, #racism, and #discrimination. These are phenomena that don’t occur in a vacuum, and the popularity and energy of this sport can unfortunately amplify such toxic behaviors. Since we care about the beauty of football and recognise its added value in promoting the values of #inclusion, #diversity and #respect for and as part of our longstanding committment against racism, we are very happy to announce our newest publication: the Pamphlet named "Football Without Racism & Discrimination", written in cooperation with Martin Širka, member of our Network and representative of YMCA Serbia The leaflet provides important definitions and examples of racism and discriminatory actions both on and off the field. It also shares resources, initiatives, and projects aimed at combating these issues. It will keep us company while following the amazing UEFA matches and we'll talk more about it in the next days, so take your chance and download it for free at this link and get in touch with us to know more! #stayunited #NoToRacism https://lnkd.in/dbpQkq2H

  • 🇪🇺Today’s the last day of #EUElections, with Italy being the last country to close the polls at 23.00 CEST. To remind everyone once again of the importance of voting to uphold democratic values, we’re very happy to share this piece by our expert & delegate Julie Ward , representing UNITED network on the board of the Civil Society Forum . She has in fact written about the relationship between voting and the fight against the shrinking of civic spaces, a fundamental struggle that regards all of us. Enjoy the reading and happy voting! #stayunited

  • 🇪🇺 It's the 2nd day of #EUElections! Today it's time for Ireland and Czech Republic to go to the polls! As we sadly know, very often political propaganda around elections is made on the fates of refugees and migrants, used as a sort of "weapon" to scare people. Since its foundation UNITED has been at the forefront for the protection of migrants and refugees rights and for this reason we're proudly partner of the consortium of the REFUGIN Project , dedicated to the building of better societies especially for younger refugees and migrants. So if you are an educational or community practitioner from France, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Romania, or Serbia, don't miss this opportunity. Through tailored and self-paced learning resources, we offer you the possibility to enhance your work with young people in refugee-like situations and have a positive impact on their sustained integration path. Expand your expertise in crucial topics requiring specialised and tailored knowledge and skills, such as: ✔ Understanding the complex path of youngsters in refugee-like situations; ✔ Grasping key techniques and methods towards a positive integration; ✔ Knowing how to work together to achieve long-term integration. 👇 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗘𝗙𝗨𝗚𝗜𝗡 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀! https://loom.ly/zt4sRyE For more information on the REFUGIN project, please visit www.refugin-project.eu or get in touch with us and #StayUnited !

  • Today is a very important anniversary: 10 years of the Istanbul Convention of the Council of Europe , a beacon for rights that are still being violated much too often. The convention was born in 2014 and it's the convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence. It's based on the understanding that violence against women is a form of gender-based violence that is committed against women because they are women. It is the obligation of the state to address it fully in all its forms and to take measures to prevent violence against women, protect its victims and prosecute the perpetrators. Failure to do so would make it the responsibility of the state. You can find the full text of the convention (in different languages) here: https://lnkd.in/dVaHdzd4 #stayunited #makeyourmark
