This week, U.S. Rep. Barbara Lee visited with Christina Jackson, the actress who plays Lee in the Netflix biopic “Shirley,” on Northeastern’s Oakland campus. The pair met to remember the historic day in 1972 when Shirley Chisholm, the first Black woman to run for president, visited the campus and gave a speech titled “Women in Politics — Why Not?” On the Boston campus, students took their books and laptops outside to enjoy the warmer weather and relax on Centennial Common.
