If there’s one thing you can rely on with Hunxho, it’s the consistency with which he feeds the streets. Emboldened by a 21 Savage cosign and 300 Entertainment record deal, the prolific, self-appointed street poet keeps dropping with a frequency not unlike fellow East Atlanta-bred rapper Gucci Mane once did. For his first proper release of 2024, he primes the pump for a highly anticipated full-length with this nine-song EP for his expanding fanbase. Opening with the pensive “Ups & Downs,” he taps R&B star Keyshia Cole to help set the right tone for his thought-provoking themes. He bemoans a cruel cycle of relationship drama with the romantic ultimatum “Closer to Over” and takes stock of both how far he’s come and how far he must go on the booming “Recording in the Dark.”
