Never Let Me Go - EP

Singer-songwriter Margaux Sauvé, aka Ghostly Kisses, studied psychology before she finally committed to music full-time. So it's no surprise the Quebec singer's ethereal trip-pop hymns are imbued with layers of profound emotion. She reaches exalted heights on her fourth EP, setting the tone with the title track—a tale of desperate longing, her voice barely more than a whisper, over harp, piano, mandolin and flute. Written with producer Louis-Étienne Santais while on tour, "Barcelona Boy" finds her dreaming of an elusive Romeo over hypnotic synths and a stark, funky breakbeat. She doesn't need drums on "Where Do Lovers Go?"—a breathless attempt to salvage a dissolving relationship, accompanied by gently plucked acoustic guitar. Her efforts appear to be in vain, but the song is maybe all the more beautiful for it.
