In the summer of 2016, Karen McDougal, a former Playboy model, attempted to sell her story about an alleged sexual encounter with Trump, which he denies. Cohen informed Trump about the story, to which Trump responded that McDougal was beautiful and instructed Cohen to ensure it was not released. Cohen kept Trump updated on the negotiations with McDougal, which eventually led to a deal being finalized in August. Trump expressed satisfaction with the outcome, but never reimbursed the $150,000 AMI paid to secure McDougal’s story. This information was revealed during Cohen’s testimony.
