Iowa Ex-Priest Leo Kelly Faces Court Proceedings for Sexual Abuse Allegations

Father Leo Riley, accused of sexually abusing boys in the 1980s, appeared in an Iowa courtroom for the first time. He faces five counts of sexual abuse for allegedly molesting altar boys in Dubuque from 1984-86. He was ordered to be held on a $500,000 cash-only bond and wear an ankle monitor if released. Riley was arrested in Florida and faces a lawsuit there as well. Public accusations arose in 2015, but the church dismissed them. A police investigation began in 2023 after more students came forward, leading to Riley being placed on leave. He denies the allegations.
