Podcasts are probably the most multi-task-friendly medium out there. Considering just how good and easily accessible most streaming services are in today's interconnected world, it's not surprising that podcasts are becoming even more popular.
That said, if you're a die-hard GNOME user, and you're also a fan of podcasts, then you could try Podcasts, also called GNOME Podcasts.
The whole point of this free and open-source app is to provide you with a quick and easy way to listen to your favorite podcasts directly from the GNOME desktop.
The coolest aspect of Podcasts is probably the fact that it can play podcasts from a wide range of podcast/music streaming platforms. For example, you can subscribe to podcasts via both RSS and Atom, as well as by using iTunes and Soundcloud links.
Another great feature is the subscription import. In short, you can import your already existing subscription (including from some paid platforms) directly into the app via OPML files.
Podcasts (or GNOME Podcasts) is not exactly the most feature-packed app of this sort. It's an app mostly designed for simplicity and one of the main benefits is its sublime integration with GNOME. For instance, you can play and search for podcasts by simply using GNOME's system search.
I am going to be honest and say that Podcasts is a nice app, but it may seem a bit weird to use at first. Usually, most podcast apps abide by this "unwritten law" that involves the user being presented with various examples of podcasts once they login or start the app.
This is not the case with this app, and it requires users to either first import subscriptions, or subscribe to various shows in order to "get the ball rolling." For beginner users, this might be a bit awkward.
Still, GNOME Podcasts is a nice app if you like simplistic, highly streamlined apps. It packs all the essential features that most day-to-day users need, but again, it might require a bit of getting used to.
