Unable to edit the document after check out - Sorry, you can't edit this document with other people

I am the sharepoint site owner and should have full control and permissions over my files. However, after checking out one of my files, I am unable to edit it in Word Online (using the same account that checked out the file).

After I check in the file or discard the checkout, I am able to edit the file again.

Note that this issue occurs only with specific files, not all files

Can I ask why would this happens and how can I fix this? Appreciate for the helps!
