Healthy Minds, Happy Lives! 😊 Meet Amisa Rashid, a Metis Fellow and Founder of the Nivishe Foundation. Amisa and her team champions for mental health and well-being, educates and engages community members on the importance of taking care of their mental health. In 2023, 23% of Kenyans were struggling with mental health, according to the Mental State of the World Report. Nivishe Foundation focuses on building community resilience through mental health and trauma-informed approaches as tools for social cohesion. It targets urban informal settlements and marginalised communities in Kenya. Recently, Nivishe Foundation engaged community stakeholders in Tala to discuss critical mental health issues impacting their community. This forum brought together representatives from the office of the Member of Parliament, the Member of County Assembly, the area O.C.S., the administration of Katine Technical Training Institute, and religious leaders. Through collective action and shared dedication to mental health and wellbeing, we can build stronger and healthier communities. We celebrate Amisa Rashid and the team at Nivishe Foundation for their dedication to mental health education and advocacy. #Metiscollective #Collectiveleadership #Mentalhealth Grace Maureen Wairimu Naftaly Muroki Muthoni Gakwa, CPA Velma Muhatia

How does #mentalhealth prioritization look like for the digital and gig economy? 🌐💡 Joanita Najjuko shares insights from our Pan African Feminist Visioning Retreat on Digitalisation and Feminist Futures of Work held in April 2024 by Nawi Africa where I was honored to speak on mental health in the gig economy and the work Nivishe Foundation does. Together, we embarked on a journey through time and innovation, exploring the transformative power of digitalisation and digital economies. In our discussions, we emphasized the importance of prioritizing mental health for gig workers who often face unique challenges like job insecurity, isolation, and burnout. Our retreat highlighted strategies for creating supportive environments, fostering resilience, and ensuring mental well-being is a cornerstone of the future of work. By integrating mental health considerations into the digital and gig economy, we aim to build a more sustainable and inclusive future for all workers. Thank you to all the incredible participants for their contributions and commitment to this vital cause. 🌍✨ Read more : https://lnkd.in/d3N4APJw #MentalHealth #GigEconomy #DigitalEconomy #FeministFutures #Innovation #PanAfricanVisioning

🌟 Caring For Our Men's Mental Health 🌟 At Nivishe Foundation, we believe in the mental well-being of the entire community, men included. We know that addressing men's mental wellness is essential for a healed community. That's why we conduct community outreaches where we openly discuss mental health issues, helping men break the stigma and find support. Our outreaches are attended by many, providing a safe space to tackle their issues and encourage open conversations. Together, we can break the chains of patriarchal culture that often silences men's feelings and emotions. Join us in supporting men's mental health and fostering a community of healing and understanding. 💙 #MensMentalHealthMonth #NivisheFoundation #MentalWellness #CommunitySupport #BreakTheStigma

What would #mentalhealth, #leadership, and civic education look like for university student leaders in Kenya? At our recent session through Nivishe Foundation , Uamuzi Foundation and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Kenya with student leaders from the Technical University of Kenya, we delved into this crucial question. The discussion highlighted the importance of integrating mental health awareness, effective leadership skills, and civic education into their daily lives. By fostering resilience, empathy, and a deep understanding of civic duties, we aim to empower these young leaders to champion positive change within their communities and beyond. Together, we explored strategies for managing stress, enhancing leadership capabilities, and promoting active citizenship. This holistic approach ensures that our future leaders are well-equipped to navigate the challenges ahead, while also prioritizing their mental well-being. Thank you to the Technical University of Kenya student leaders and the school administration for their enthusiastic participation and commitment to making a difference! 🌟🧠👥 #MentalHealth #Leadership #CivicEducation #YouthEmpowerment #TUKStudentLeaders Metis

Led by our Founder, Amisa Rashid , along with our Counselor, Mariam Yusuf , and Research Lead, Miriam Okotta the session focused on crucial topics including Mental Health, the use of the Uamuzi app for civic engagement, media tools for effective communication, and community outreach strategies. This initiative aligns with our shared goal of fostering informed and responsible leaders who can drive positive political and social change in Kenya.
