The civilian aviation market is extremely complex, dynamic, and competitive. Numerous variables shape its evolution, both in commercial and technological terms: the gradual increase in air traffic, the rapid evolution of technologies, which implies the introduction of extensive digitalisation and the appearance on the stage of the uncrewed systems, and the related #UTM (Uncrewed Traffic Management) systems and, last but not least, the need to reduce carbon emissions associated with #AirTrafficManagement. In this scenario, there is a growing need for safe and efficient air mobility, which integrates manned and uncrewed aircraft management and ensures safe operation, efficient services, and environmental #sustainability. To meet these requirements, #Leonardo offers a number of solutions for air traffic management that ensure control in all flight phases and in the management of ground operations. ✈️ Integrated systems for air traffic surveillance that improve situational awareness by delivering air traffic-related images and data from aircraft. 📡 Control centres that meet the strictest international requirements and increase process efficiency through advanced human-machine interfaces, with high levels of automation and interoperability. 📢 Redundant communication systems that can be integrated with multiple communication networks, supporting traffic controllers and operators in coordinating communication devices and networks, allowing the optimal management of airline hubs. Take a deep breath, soak in the beauty of this photo and set the tone for a wonderful week. Wishing you all a great start to the day! 📸 Kangaroo Island, Australia #COSMOSkyMed Image © ASI. Processed and distributed by e-GEOS (Agenzia Spaziale Italiana / Telespazio) 🔍 Located in southern Australia, the island is a traveler’s paradise. It boasts scenic hikes, incredible wildlife, and some of the finest beaches in Australia. Home to 4,000 people, 400,000 sheep and approximately 4 million wallabies, the island also host a significant number of Ligurian bees who have found an ideal "working place". The climate is similar to their ancestral home in northern Italy, and they are surrounded by plentiful flora. #MeditationMonday

Protecting assets and operations of European Space Agency - ESA and other ESA Member States’ Space stakeholders from emerging cyber threats in the #Space Domain, monitoring and managing the vulnerabilities, reinforcing the cyber protection of Ground and Space assets, and enhancing the security of ESA member states and partners. These are the goals of the European Space Agency's (ESA) Cyber-Security Operations Centre (#CSOC), which sees Leonardo as prime contractor leading a team of nineteen European companies to build the centre, a key infrastructure for Europe's economy and security. The C-SOC employs advanced functions to ensure prevention, protection, deception and analysis of cyber-attacks of Space assets, enabled by #Leonardo's Cyber Threat Intelligence platform and other state-of-the-art components integrated into the system, including automated capabilities and prepared for the possible extensive use of artificial intelligence. Active since May 2, the C-SOC was presented on May 24 to EU and NATO representatives visiting the ESA/ESEC (European Space Security and Education Centre) headquarters in Redu (Belgium). During the event, the C-SOC’s distinctive elements in the cyber threat scenario were described, for the different segments of the Space sector. Find out more: http://lnrdo.co/3yBnAgJ

The unprecedented #digitalisation of recent years has led to an exponential increase in the amount of #data exchanged, while also widening the scope of exposure to #cybersecurity attacks, which have become more intense, frequent, and insidious, evolving at a faster speed than of the countermeasures that can be adopted. For this reason, in addition to traditional protection systems from cyber threats, it has become necessary to develop an approach based on #cyberresilience, i.e., the prevention and reaction capacity that allows us to resist attacks while maintaining essential operational levels. It consists of designing in such a way as to adapt to adverse conditions, such as attacks or compromises of IT resources, and aiming for the rapid recovery of the attacked systems, to re-establish functionality and return to full activity in the shortest possible time, having suffered only limited, temporary and reversible damage. Find out more about Leonardo’s solutions designed to improve threat prevention, cyber resilience methodologies, and cyber secure-by-design approach in issue no. 50 of "POLARIS Innovation Journal", now available online: http://lnrdo.co/3KkabMC #Leonardo4Innovation Leonardo Cyber & Security

On the Japanese newspaper Nikkei Asia, our CEO & GM Roberto Cingolani outlines the goals of the Global Combat Air Programme (#GCAP), the international collaboration programme involving #Italy, the #UK and #Japan for the development of a new-generation #aircraft system by 2035, and focuses on the contribution, in technological and economic terms, of the programme's three partners. The air system will include a core platform, the next-generation fighter, connected to other, crewed and uncrewed, peripheral systems, plus a series of advanced sensors and data systems connected via #ArtificialIntelligence and #cloud architecture. “For me, technology comes first. After defining the activities to be carried out and the players who will manage them, it will be possible to organise the allocation of resources among the partners involved”, stated Roberto Cingolani.
