To a professional flavourist, it is impossible to truly understand a flavour with a single word. These could be broken down further into a homemade chocolate fudge taste profile or a brownie profile. This month, we celebrated our 30th year of operations in Latin America! In 1994, we established a presence in Mexico, and four years later, in Brazil, after which we continued to expand our activity across the region. Since then, we have grown with our customers to reach over 100 million consumers across Latin America with our sustainable nutrition solutions, and we proudly employee over 3,000 people across 14 production sites, including two Regional Technology & Innovation Centres (Mexico and Brazil), and a regional Technology Hub (Medellín). Over a billion tonnes of food is thrown away each year. This not only costs money and wastes food that could feed people, but pulls on resources such as water, energy, labour – and creates CO2 emissions. Our digital food waste estimator can be used to calculate the potential food waste reduction from extra shelf-life days and the environmental impact of food waste reduction for both consumers and manufacturers. A recent peer-reviewed article shares the methodology behind our estimator that could be used to calculate the potential food waste reduction and the environmental and nutritional reach impact of extending the shelf life of different foods. We recently had the pleasure of co-hosting the Sustainable Dairy Partnership Spring meeting with SAI Platform, Tirlán and Bord Bia - The Irish Food Board in Kilkenny, Ireland. Sustainability leaders from dairy processors, traders, buyers and national programs across the world gathered to discuss how we move forward in an aligned approach on measurement, reporting and verification for the dairy industry.
