The increasing number of investigational gene therapy products that employ genome editing (GE) technology has been promoted by advances in scientific knowledge and technology as well as the potential of such products for the treatment of human diseases. Nevertheless, the potential risks, for instance those that may be associated to off-target editing and long term effects are still not well understood. During his presentation, our colleague mentioned that with our state-of-the-art analysis portfolio we are prepared to serve our customers, while we will build capacity in the Danube Region during the international MicroDrink project.

It's a common misconception that all beef products can safely be served medium-rare. While it works well for steaks, there are greater risks involved in serving medium-rare beef burgers. 🐄 Different meats require different cooking temperatures to destroy harmful bacteria. The core of whole cuts of meat such as steak are typically free from harmful bacteria so it’s generally sufficient to sear them on the outside to kill bacteria such as E.coli. 🥩 On the other hand, when burger patties are made from ground beef, any bacteria present on the surface can mix with, and contaminate, the rest of the meat during the mincing process. For this reason, beef burger patties should be cooked more thoroughly. 🔥   Listeria and salmonella are only killed above 71°C (160°F), so beef burger patties should be cooked to 75°C (167°F) or higher, unless a validated food safety management plan is in place. 🍔 Eurofins Bureau de Wit in the Netherlands works closely with companies that care about the safety of the food they produce or serve to guests or clients.
