Summary

Deprecate the HTMLSourceElement.media IDL attribute

Motivation

The media content attribute has already been removed from the resource selection algorithm in http://crbug.com/338197, so we should remove the IDL attribute ASAP.

Usage information from UseCounter

I added the UseCounter HTMLSourceElementMedia very recently, so it will not have good data yet.

However, given the low usage of non-matching media attributes (0.00003%) it seems unlikely that a large proportion of pages will use this IDL attribute and see the deprecation warning. (That would require ~100% of scripts to set media attributes that always match...)

Compatibility Risk

None for deprecation. For removal, pages that test "'media' in source" where source is a HTMLSourceElement or depend on "media.source == ''" before setting it will misbehave. In summary, not very worrying.

Row on feature dashboard?

No.

Requesting approval to remove too?

No, wait until the counter has reached stable.
