The OECD is compiling data, analysis and recommendations on closing digital divides and enhancing connectivity for education to address this enormous challenge. The OECD is also able to facilitate co-ordination, and contribute to the necessary global action when confronting this enormous collective challenge. In particular, the OECD's on-going work on digitalisation in education is particularly relevant to the first of these flagships. Even before the onset of the pandemic, digitalisation was one of the most significant ongoing trends of our societies, impacting on almost every aspect of the economy and society. Digitalisation in education takes several forms most of which require connectivity, including: the increasing use of digital devices and technologies in education; the increasing production of data (from the use of these digital devices); and the increasing use of the produced data to improve, understand, and personalise the learning process, and more generally, various aspects of the educational operation.

The OECD is compiling data, analysis and recommendations on a range of topics to address the emerging health, economic and societal crisis, facilitate co-ordination, and contribute to the necessary global action when confronting this enormous collective challenge.
In education, the OECD is supporting countries' efforts to sustain educational opportunity for all amidst this pandemic, which has been challenging around the world. To assist education leaders in those efforts, the OECD and the Global Education Innovation Initiative at Harvard University have collaborated on two surveys to obtain and analyze information on the education conditions faced in the almost 100 countries participating in the surveys, and on the approaches adopted to sustain educational opportunity. The OECD is collaborating closely in these efforts with UNESCO and the World Bank in particular and is sharing the survey results with these as soon as they become available.
The OECD has also curated a list of online education resources which had been identified in the first of the surveys described above. The OECD has facilitated discussions of the education response to the pandemic in each of its education committees since March 2020 and is facilitating peer learning and experience sharing among OECD member and partner countries.
