EBU is carrying out a strategy to support gender-equal media organization.
This work draws on a number of principles that the EBU is committed to:
- that gender equality is not only a fundamental human right but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world;
- that the global economy cannot operate at its full potential while systematic constraints are holding back a significant proportion of the world’s population;
- that equality and diversity are indispensable in true democratic societies.

Public Service Media (PSM) organizations, the members of the EBU, are committed to supporting society on many fronts, providing special programming to inform, entertain and educate in these difficult times. PSM have launched school TVs and programmes for their television and YouTube channels, are producing additional content for their digital platforms and own virtual classrooms. In cooperation with ministries of education they make sure their educational content is relevant and adapted to children’s curricula.
Our members have expertise on how to provide distant learning and produce relevant programmes. As member of the Global Education Coalition the EBU acts as the liaison between UNESCO and our members, helping to find this expertise among our membership, to have access to certain educational content or support on other broadcast-related activities. Concretely, we are organizing with UNESCO a series of virtual knowledge-sharing workshop on distance education programmes using radio and television: https://en.unesco.org/events/setting-educational-radios-and-televisions-virtual-knowledge-sharing-workshops. We also believe that this cooperation will also have a long-term effect, since distant learning will become more important in the future.
