The rank of Master Sergeant must surely be incorrect. No citation is given. How can he achieve such a senior NCO rank after serving only 14 months?! There are so many ranks between enlistment and Master Sergeant: corporal, sergeant, etc... Then he was commissioned as a second lieutenant 8 months later? This seems impossible. Probably he was given the rank equivalent to a "cadet" or officer candidate, prior to his commission. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gregorybard (talkcontribs) 04:39, 18 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have an idea that Kasiski was also involved with the Volapuk movement, but I can't find any references. Can anyone help there? -- Securiger 12:39, 8 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Ah no, wrong 19th century European cryptographer starting with 'K': it was Kerkhoffs who was involved with Volapuk! -- Securiger 02:57, 9 Mar 2004 (UTC)
