In 1991, Borer was elected as the eighth mayor of the city of West Haven, a position he held for seven terms. H. Richard Borer is a former American politician and current nonprofit executive. Borer was the former mayor of West Haven, Connecticut, and member of the Democratic Party. He is currently President of Goodwill Industries of Southern New England in New Haven, Connecticut.

In 1991, Borer was elected as the eighth mayor of the city of West Haven, a position he held for seven terms. During his tenure as mayor, Borer focused on the redevelopment of commercial areas including a new train station on Metro North line for West Haven, redevelopment of Sawmill Road, Savin Rock Conference Center and public safety with a new state of the art Police Station.[1][failed verification][2][3][failed verification]

Borer is the current Easter Seals Goodwill Industries president.[4][5]

He currently serves on the New Haven Workforce Alliance, Gateway Community College Foundation and as commissioner of the Milford Redevelopment and Housing Partnership.[6]
