"Galaxies"
Song

"Galaxies" is a song by Owl City, released on April 19, 2011.[1] It is the second single from his fourth album, All Things Bright and Beautiful. It is said to be about the Space Shuttle Challenger Disaster. A prelude into the song is "January 28, 1986", containing a sample from the Ronald Reagan speech at the time.

Meaning

Adam Young created the song to be a dance hit, similar to a European trance song, as he is a fan of that genre.[2] The song is designed to put the listener in the shoes of the crew of the Space Shuttle Challenger as it goes up to space.[2] It reminisces on what the crew must have been thinking while the disaster happened, in their last few seconds of life.
